Scott Lofthus Memorial Open July 30
Nokomis Heights golfers and many other friends are invited to play in the 10th Annual Scott Lofthus Memorial Open, Friday, July 30, 8:00 a.m. at Pheasant Acres Golf Course in Corcoran. Nokomis Heights has had a strong showing at this enjoyable event in honor of Mark Lofthus’ brother, who passed away in 2001. In addition to golf, friendship, and lunch, there is an added bonus of a $20,000 prize for a hole-in-one on Hole #3, and other prizes for various levels of achievement, both skillful and embarrassing. Golfers or would-be golfers of all ages are encouraged to join us; the only prerequisite is a desire to have fun, and since this is a “scramble” event, everyone has a chance to contribute to their golfing group. The Scott Lofthus Memorial Open has also been a fund raising event, which in 2009 raised over $950 that will be devoted to youth activities at the church. Brochures are available at the kiosk in the courtyard or by calling Mark Lofthus. (Posted: 07/23/2010)

Habitat For Humanity
Thank you for your support in volunteering for this yearly, ecumenical effort! We are looking forward to a successful building schedule and ask for your blessing and prayers. There are still a few days open, particularly Tuesday, July 26 and Wednesday, July 27th. We can still accommodate volunteers, but please sign up before you come!
Also, cash donations to help support the Nokomis Builds' pledge to the Thrivent Builds fundraising campaign would be greatly appreciated. Please consider this way of donating to Habitat for Humanity to insure that our donations will support the work we are doing in Brooklyn Center. Our church budget graciously contributes $400; the goal for each participating congregation is $1,000. Please write "Habitat for Humanity" on the envelope or memo line of any gifts. Thank you! Fair Trade Coffee Available!
Did you know that Fair Trade coffee is available for sale in the courtyard at Nokomis Heights? You can find it in the coffee corner, just outside the kitchenette. What a great way to make a difference in the lives of small coffee growers in countries such as Ethiopia, Tanzania, El Salvador, and Columbia! And it tastes great, too!! Give it a try—we think coffee tastes even better when drinking it assists a poor family!
